Road to North Western France - #7

The Cathedral's Town - DOL-de-BRETAGNE

This is a proud little historic village of Dol (As it is know by), with its fascinating Saint Samson Cathedral, was built on the marshes extending to the Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel. Just outside of this little "flat" landscape, emerges Mont Dol (Will post photos right after), where Saint Michael Fought off Satan.

It boasts the oldest stoned house of Brittany (Still in use) dated from the 12th century

The Cathedral, where I focused my visit, was originally from a Roman style, burnt by John the Landless, King of England in 1203.

Nominoƫ, the first king of Brittany in 848.

The main entrance of the cathedral

The glass wall is from the 13th century

One of the chapels

Petit-Palets. Old Mansion. It is a rare example of the civil architecture of the 12th Century.
